Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, is calling for entries to showcase greater cultural diversity on our screens. In its 26th year, Sydney’s Tropfest 2018 will celebrate another year of achievement in film from 13-17 February in Parramatta, one of the most ethnically vibrant areas in Sydney.
If you are a film maker exploring the themes of difference, diversity and multiculturalism, submit your entry by 11 January 2018. To learn more about entry requirements, please go to https://www.tropfest.org.au/filmmakers
If you’re or under 15 years old but passionate about film making, go for the Trop Jr category. For more information, please go to https://www.tropfest.org.au/filmmakers
Since 1993 Tropfest’s purpose has been creating platforms for filmmakers to generate new content and share their stories. Each year the Festival delivers a raft of programs that encourage emerging talent to participate in the film industry and has helped launch some of Australia’s most notable film and TV careers. Events include Tropfest, Trop Jr, TropTalks and more, which form part of our multiday celebration of Australian film. In 2017, Tropfest achieved gender equality for the first time, with female filmmakers making up half of the finalists. This year, Tropfest is striving to further increase inclusivity, encouraging submissions that showcase Australia’s rich multicultural identity.
