We celebrated the Chilean Independence Day at Cultural Perspectives with empanada lunch (baked stuffed pastry – traditional food in Chile) and Latin Guitar music, thanks to our lovely colleague Joshua Rebolledo.
This Sunday, 21 May is recognised as the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development by the United Nations. The UN explains the importance of cultural diversity as “a driving force of development, not only with respect to economic growth, but also as a means of leading a more fulfilling intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual life”.
Chinese Lantern Festival, which is on the 15th day of the new year, denotes the end of the Chinese New Year celebration. For this occasion, Chinese eat the the sweet glutinous rice balls, namely Yuanxiao or Tangyuan, which carries good wishes of family unity, togetherness, and a sweet life.
