The results of the 2017 SBS National Languages Competition are out! Four winners across the country from four age categories were awarded at a ceremony at SBS yesterday, with special guests including the Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training, and competition judge and famed Eurovision singer Isaiah.
Nominations are now open for the Australian Multicultural Marketing Awards 2017 (AMMAs) for diversity campaigns across ten categories. Entries Close Monday 9 October.
At Cultural Perspectives, we’re keeping a look out at all the exciting events that are coming up during Queensland Multicultural Month this year. If you haven’t yet heard about it, “The Train” will travel across Queensland countryside with world-renowned artists from culturally diverse backgrounds and their music and storytelling for the regional and remote Queensland audiences during August.
Bigger and better, the Childers Festival is back at south west of Bundaberg this weekend with five stages of entertainment and over 400 stalls of world cuisine from the globe. Always held in the last weekend of July, the festival is one of signature multicultural events in Queensland, attracting a crowd of over 5000 people each year.
